City to celebrate
Cesar Chavez Day
Glendale will celebrate Cesar Chavez day with its annual
commemorative event at 5 p.m. Thursday at Edison Pacific Auditorium,
501 S. Pacific Ave.
Christine Chavez-Gonzalez will be the keynote speaker, and Aztalan
Mariachis, the Quetzal Folklorico Dance Group and Ballet Folklorico
Mexico Azteca will provide entertainment. Local students will read
essays, and a short video focusing on Chavez's life will be aired.

City offers soccer, tennis class
Glendale Parks, Recreation and Community Service is accepting
registration for two classes, youth and adult tennis and Kidz Love
Soccer.
The youth tennis classes are available at beginning and
intermediate levels and will be at Montrose Park and Fremont Park.
The adult classes are available at beginning, intermediate or
advanced levels and will be at Montrose Park and Nibley Park. The
classes cost $75 for an eight-week series and begin today.
The Kidz Love Soccer program is an eight-week series for children
3 1/2 to 12 to teach soccer fundamentals in a noncompetitive
environment. The class begins today at Glendale Sports Complex, 2200
Fern Lane, and costs $80 per child.
