Goffredo's Basketball Camp set for summer
The 27th annual Coach John Goffredo Basketball Camp will be held
from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 27-July 1 at Crescenta Valley High's old
gymansium, 2900 Ramsdell Ave., La Crescenta.
The event, which is geared for children ages 6-15, will feature awards, trophies, T-shirts, guest speakers and an evaluation and
more.
Former Crescenta Valley High boys' basketball star Jimmy Goffredo
will also participate in the camp.
The cost is $220 per person. The registration deadline is June 14.
The tuition after June 14 is $250 per person.

L.A. Times/United Way Golf Classic set
The inaugural Los Angeles Times/United Way Golf Classic will be
held at noon April 11 at Brookside Golf Course, 1133 N. Rosemont Ave., Pasadena.
The cost is $125 and includes green fees, cart and dinner.
Registration will begin at 10 a.m.
The format will be four-person scramble best ball. A putting
contest will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m.
Participants are required to wear soft-spike shoes and collared
shirts.

Golf tourney benefiting hospital to be held
The ninth annual Glendale Memorial to benefit Glendale Memorial
Hospital and Health Center will take place at noon April 11 at
Lakeside Country Club, 4500 Lakeside Drive, Toluca Lake.
Registration will begin at 10 a.m. and the event will be a
scramble format. Sponsorships are available.

Soccer club to hold tryouts for new season
The Burbank-based SSV girls' under-9 and 10-year-old soccer team
will hold several tryouts for the upcoming season.
Tryouts will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. April 17 at Jordan Middle
School, corner of Oak and Mariposa streets, Burbank.
Players born after Aug. 1, 1995 and before July 31, 1996, are
invited. The team will compete in the Coast League, one of the
premier leagues in Southern California.
The season will run in the fall, and the roster will remain the
same year round.
A parent/guardian must attend the tryouts, and players are
required to bring cleats, shinguards and a soccer ball. Earlier
training and evaluation sessions are available.
