Voters even have the opportunity for a choice for city treasurer. Incumbent Ron Borucki, a banker, is facing challenger Phillip Kazanjian, an attorney.

In other races on the ballot, nine candidates are running for three seats on the Board of Education. On the ballot are incumbents Chahib Sambar and Greg Krikorian, and challengers Joylene Wagner, Naira Khachatariasn, Nayiri Nahabedian, Sally Nilssen, Hasmig Aslanian, Maria Rochart and Louise Foote.

Three seats are open on the Glendale Community College Board of Trustees, with three incumbents facing one new face. Incumbents are Armine Hacopian, Victor King and Anita Gabrielian. The challenger is Linda Sheffield.

Voters must also decide on 21 charter amendments on Tuesday's ballot. Most are routine revisions of obsolete language, one of which takes away specific protections for city employees on the job on Jan. 1, 1937.

Proposition 15 clarifies the law on setting council compensation, and Prop. 21, backed by Mayor Bob Yousefian, would require a vote of the public on sale of city-owned open space.
