Loyola edges St. Francis

BOYS' GOLF

Loyola 184, St. Francis 190: Phil Crist carded an even-par 35 for

the Golden Knights in a Mission League match at Brookside Golf Course

No. 2 on Wednesday.

Adrian Guy had a 38 for St. Francis (3-7, 2-4 in league).

Teammates Perrie Garcia, Joe Forbes and Logan Hunter had 39s.

Garcia had five-over par 40s for the Golden Knights in a Mission

League match at Porter Valley Ranch Country Club on Tuesday.

St. Francis (3-6, 2-3 in league) had 41s from Len Shonka Jr., Phil

Crist and Adrian Guy.

SOFTBALL

Oak Park 6, Hoover 0: The visiting Tornadoes (2-8) managed just

six hits in a nonleague game at Valley View Park.

Rachael Estrella led Hoover with two hits. Teammates Sara Campos,

Catie Rohrig, Mackenzie Hill and Rebecca Wingett each had one hit.

BASEBALL

Flintridge Prep 18, Kilpatrick 10: The Rebels (5-3) rallied for a

7-0 deficit to win Tuesday's nonleague game at the Glendale Sports

Complex.

Rebel pitcher Matt Stein entered the game in the sixth inning and

struck out all five batters he faced to earn the win. He was also

three for four with a triple and three runs batted in.

Teammate Scott Hofer was one for two with three runs.

St. Francis 5, Highland 2: Brian Farris hit a first-inning,

two-run home run to lead the Golden Knights (8-4) in a pool-play game

of the Apache Invitational at Arcadia High on Tuesday.

Teammate Andy Marquardt added a solo home run, and teammates

Christian Bergman and Taylor Smale each had a double.

St. Francis starting pitcher Andrew Sember (1-1) went six innings

to earn the victory. Reliever Luke Collis pitched the seventh inning

for his first save this season.

St. Francis 4, Arcadia 2: Reed Leonard had a clutch run-scoring

single to lead the Golden Knights in a pool-play game of the Apache

Invitational at Arcadia High on Monday.

St. Francis got two hits from Taylor Smale and one from Andy

Marquardt.

St. Francis starting pitcher Christian Bergman (2-2) struck out

seven and scattered six hits in a complete-game effort. The junior

right-hander didn't allow a walk and added a hit.
