Weaver won the two-year term left open by the move of Gus Gomez to the Superior Court and will have to do it all over again in 2007. The other three won four-year terms. Those four, along with holdover incumbent Rafi Manoukian, will need to choose a new mayor next week.
Najarian received 8,362 votes, running 1,100 votes ahead of Yousefian, who received 7,230 votes. Quintero, who is considering a run for assembly next year, received 7,119 votes.
Weaver, the dean of the council, took fourth place with 6,574 votes, besting Drayman, who received 6,114 votes.
Other totals included Larry Miller, 5,762; Steve Hedrik, 5,662; Chahe Keuroghelian, 5,499; Anahid Oshagan, 5,357; Vrej Agajanian, 3,843; Glynda Gomez, 3,790; Shirley Griffin, 2,733; Odalis Suarez, 2,644; Pauline Field, 2,474; Dick Seeley, 2,382; Hovik Gabikian, 1,856; Garry Sinanian, 1,019; John Stevenson, 1,016; and Joe Mandoky, 728.
In the race to succeed retiring City Clerk Doris Twedt, Ardashes "Ardy" Kassakhian was the winner, with 5,714 votes. Finishing second was businessman George McCullough, with 3,476 votes. Others included Kathryn Van Houten, 3,277; Paulette Mardikian, 2,873; Stephen Ropfogel, 1,513; Stephanie Landregan, 1,438; Gary Sysock, 1,002; Lorna Vartanian, 842; and Narineh Barzegar, 757.
Treasurer Ron Borucki was easily re-elected, receiving 12,140 votes to 6,648 for challenger Phillip Kazanjian.
Two school board incumbents were re-elected: Greg Krikorian with 11,649 votes and Chakib "Chuck" Sambar with 8,513. Winning the vacant seat was Joylene K. Wagner, with 8,480 votes. Others included Nayiri Nahabedian, 7,183; Louise Foote, 6,077; Maria Rochart, 5,851; Sally Nilssen, 4,047; Naira Khachatrian, 3,843; and Hasmig Aslanian, 2,808.
