Here are some of the items the Glendale Unified School District board

will discuss today:

2005-06 SCHOOL

CALENDAR

The board will consider approving the calendars for traditional,

year-round, "E" track, College View School, Early Education and

Extended Learning Programs, Foothill Area Community Transition

Services and the Counselor Work Year. Traditional-schedule students

in elementary, middle and high school and at College View School will

return to school Sept. 6.

The year will conclude June 22, 2006. Balboa, Marshall and Muir

elementary schools will shift to a traditional calendar this fall.

For students on the year-round calendar, school will begin July 7.

Jefferson Elementary School, the only school in the district on a

one-track, year-round calendar, will return to a traditional calendar

in 2006-07. Jan. 6, the Day of Epiphany celebrated locally as

Armenian Christmas, is a day off for all students.

The item will likely be approved.

CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS

The board will discuss the initial proposal by local chapters of

the California School Employees Assn. The school employees union and

its Glendale Chapter #3 seek improvements and modification to several

articles regarding representation, hours of employment, wages, leaves

of absence, transfer procedures, vacations, disciplinary procedures,

safety conditions and duration and termination, for its successor to

the collective bargaining agreements for the union's units A and B.

The union wants the district to put a "Sunshine Proposal" on the

board's next agenda.

REVISION TO

BOARD POLICIES

The board will discuss whether to revise the policies concerning

the district's salary schedules and placement, health and welfare,

conflict of interest and disclosure code and employee workplace

safety.

APPROVAL OF

2005-06 CALENDARS

School board members will consider approving the installation of a

Glendale Area Schools Federal Credit Union ATM machine next to the

district's Administration Center, at 223 N. Jackson St.

District officials believe the ATM would be a benefit to employees

working at the Administration Center, as well as those visiting from

other school and district sites.
