Vaqs send two to final

COLLEGE TRACK AND FIELD

Glendale Community College in Southern California prelims: Corey

Lenaris and Omar Limon of Glendale College advanced to the Southern

California finals after turning in stellar efforts at the Southern

California prelims Saturday.

Lenaris won his heats in the 100- and 200-meter events. He clocked

10.73 in the 100 and than ran a personal-best mark of 21.58 in the

200.

Limon qualified after he finished second in his heat of the 3,200

steeplechase (9:54.2). Teammate Alberto Ramos clocked 35:01 in the

10,000.

In the women's competition, Glendale College's Maribel Cespedes

clocked 44:48 in the 10,000.

The state championships will be held May 13-14 at American River

College in Sacramento.

WOMEN'S TENNIS

Glendale College's Mao Okuda posted a 7-5, 6-0 first-round match

victory in the Southern California regionals Saturday before dropping

her second-round contest, 6-0, 6-0.

Okuda then teamed with Anna-Alicia Araujo to earn a 6-0, 6-4 win.

The duo then fell, 6-2, 6-1 in a second-round match.

COLLEGE BASEBALL

Glendale Community College 13, L.A. Mission College 6: The

Vaqueros closed out the week with a Western State Conference Southern

Division victory Saturday.

Glendale College (12-23, 8-13 in the division) began the week with

an 8-4 loss to Citrus College on April 26.

COLLEGE SOFTBALL

L.A. Valley 13, Glendale Community College 1: The Vaqueros closed

out their season with a Western State Conference road loss April 26.

Glendale College finished 13-25 and 11-13 in conference.

Miki Mayorga was named to the conference's second team and

teammates Kristen Carr and Christine Kula were named honorable

mention.
