I wanted to explain to your readers why I, for one, am proud to have David Dreier represent me in the U.S. Congress. Thanks to Congressman Dreier our economy is growing and we are fighting illegal immigration.
I am especially proud that David Dreier believes in the future over the tired politics of the past. His support for free trade has led to more jobs by increasing our exports and has increased our standard of living by making the products we buy less expensive. He supported NAFTA which has increased U.S. exports by over $130 billion, and increased the average family's annual income by nearly $1,000 a year. He also supports CAFTA, which will eliminate tariffs on over 80 percent of U.S. exports to countries in Central America that already enjoy open access to the U.S. market. Congressman Dreier wants fair trade for the benefit of all Americans.
David Dreier's immigration record is equally strong. He opposes amnesty for illegal immigrants. When the Congress voted to provide amnesty in 1986, David Dreier voted NO. He has also led the effort to increase the size of the border patrol, close the gap in the San Diego border fence, successfully offered an amendment to increase funding for jailing criminal illegal aliens, authored legislation to make it a federal crime to murder a police officer and flee the country to avoid prosecution, and wrote the only bill to increase the penalties on employers who employ illegal aliens.
