Surfrider Celebrity Surf Jam set
Music and surfing will combine to form the first Surfrider
Foundation Celebrity Surf Jam Sunday, Sept. 11 at the Huntington
Beach Pier.
Professional surfer Pat O'Connell of Laguna Beach is co-chair of
the event.
Well-known musicians and professional surfers make up the roster
for the event, which will run from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Musicians scheduled to participate include Brandon Boyd, Mike
Einziger and Ben Kenney of the band Incubus, Peter DiStefano of Porno
for Pyros and Jim Lindberg of Pennywise.
Four-time Olympic medal-winning swimmer Aaron Perisol also will
participate, as will professional surfers O'Connell, Jeff Deffenbaugh
of Huntington Beach, who will co-produce the event, Rob Machado, Alex
Grey and Dane Reynolds.
The event is co-chaired by Sal Masekela, commentator for the
X-Games and ABC Sports.
Boys' club soccer team has spots open
The Laguna Beach Soccer Club boys' under-12 team is looking for
one or two more talented, committed players to complete the team for
the 2005 season, which begins Saturday. The team is coached by Andy
Thomas, former coach at Laguna Beach High.
