GIRLS' GOLF
Flintridge Sacred Heart 238, La Salle 299: The Tologs improved to
2-4 on the season following Monday's nonleague victory at the
Altadena Golf Course.
Tolog Lauren Wheeler took medalist honors with a four-over-par 41.
Marcela Campbell shot a 44, Irene Yi had a 47, Angie So added a 51
and Jennifer Choi rounded out the scoring for Flintridge Sacred Heart
with a 55.
BOYS' WATER POLO
La Canada "B" Team 11, Glendale 7: The bench players on La
Canada's varsity team, coupled with some junior varsity standouts,
defeated the host Nitros in a nonleague match, which only counted
toward Glendale's record.
The Nitros (0-5) were led by Vaspur Ovasapyan's two goals. Avo
Serafino, Hayberd Minas-Masihi, Patrick Morrisey, Rafi Serafino and
Hobin Wee added goals for Glendale.
WOMEN'S SOCCER
Glendale Community College 5, Allan Hancock College 1: Janet De
Lao and Claudia Cienfuentes each scored two goals to lead the
visiting Vaqueros in a nonconference match Friday.
Jennifer Barrientos scored a goal for Glendale College (4-1-1).
The Vaqueros will next play another nonconference road contest at
7 p.m. today against Santa Barbara City College before hosting Cuesta
College at 4 p.m. Friday.
MEN'S CROSS-COUNTRY
Glendale Community College in Cuesta Invitational: The Vaqueros
got two top-10 finishes to take second in the Cuesta Invitational on
Saturday. Luis Castaneda clocked 21 minutes 39.4 seconds to place
second on the four-mile course. Teammate Preston Richardson finished
ninth (22:32.2).
Glendale College's Ivan Perez finished 12th (23:01). Joseph Lopez was 13th (23:07.3) and Victor Rios took 65th (23:56.80).
Hartnell College won the meet with 66 points and the Vaqueros
finished with 65.
The Vaqueros will next compete in the Golden West Invitational at
Central Park at 10 a.m. Saturday.
