City must salvage condo project

The editorial "Investigation into condo mess needed" (Community

Forum, Oct. 1-2) provided some interesting scenarios of how Glendale

city government is operating these days.

While accountability is an important aspect of this development

plan that seemingly has gone awry, it is understandable why our city

officials are concerned about the possible demise of this noteworthy

project.

Having recently spent a couple of days in downtown San Diego,

where Bosa Development projects are thriving and making a significant

impact on the skyline, it's not surprising that our City Council is

up in arms.

Bosa has an excellent reputation for building attractive and

quality projects (check their website: o7www.bosadev.comf7) and

Glendale officials need to do everything humanly possible to put the

project back on track.

It's completion would be a worthy complement to the Americana at

Brand Town Center and might well help to attract new businesses and

shore-up tenancy in our office towers.

Some thoughts on war

Here is something to think about.

War is genocide. Genocide is war, and the innocent are always

caught between the hate and revenge that seems to never stop.

And there are people who want to keep it alive, so think about it.

Left-leaning columnist doing a disservice

Regarding 30-year high school history teacher Dan Kimber's "A pot

needs stirring at times," Sept. 30, if Kimber could only refrain from

patting himself on the back and stop thinking of himself as God's

gift to the teaching profession, he may realize that when he is in

the classroom and he "strays from the script," as he puts it, and

promotes his pretty far left political views to his high school

seniors that his is not encouraging independent thinking but to the

contrary, again as he puts it, herding his students like sheep into

his corner.

His views are so far left that Michael Moore would be very proud

of him.

He is way beyond being just anti-war. In his column last week he

seemed to have a problem with church-goers.

If you are religious and don't hate the president you must be a

religious zealot that is plotting to take over the White House.

And then of course there is the old left wing reliable -- "class

warfare, the haves (Bush's people) and the have nots."

And then let's not forget Bush went into Iraq solely for the oil

and to make Halliburton billions.

When a public high school teacher drills his students with nothing

but negativity and his own personal views (under the guise of opening

their minds) he is not only doing a disservice to his students but

also to the parents of students.

A disservice to parents who do not share his feelings and do not

hate Bush, a disservice to parents who do not think that the USA is

the cause of all the worlds problems.

Apparently Kimber believes that when he "strays from the script"

he knows what is best for your child.

I'm disappointed that the Glendale Unified School District

condones this.

Will they let a far-right teacher teach students to worship and

praise Bush and bash all his opponents?

I think not and they should not. If there ever was a poster boy

for promoting school vouchers, Kimber is it.
