Against Clovis West, Cottam led the charge with a game-high five
goals and Evan McLain blocked 14 shots.
The Sailors (11-1) are playing without Clay Jorth, who is
competing for Team USA in the Junior World Championships near Buenos
Aires, Argentina, until Oct. 15, at the Pan-American Stadium in Del
Mar Plata.
However, the Sailors will play in the semifinals today at 3 p.m.
at Irvine High. The finals are slated for 8 p.m.

Sea Kings split two
* WATER POLO: The Corona del Mar High boys water polo team played
two games Friday at Irvine High. The Sea Kings lost the first game,
12-7, to Clovis West but came back to beat Alcalanes, 12-11, in the
second game to increase their record to 7-7.
Kyle Hersh led the offense with three goals against Clovis West
while Tom Money and Jacob Murphy each had two.
Goalie Jamie Kline had four saves and Phillip Di Giacomo helped
out with one.
In the second game Murphy put in four more goals while Hersh and
Ryan Hultman each had three. Money added two goals to help defeat the
Alcalanes.
Estancia tames Lions
* CROSS COUNTRY: Estancia High's boys cross country teams beat
Westminster in a Golden West League dual meet Thursday at
Westminster, 15-50. Ernesto Castaneda and Hector Gomez tied for the
lead at 19:04. The next six Eagle runners were CJ Buckman (19:05),
Fernando Orozco (19:05), Josh Garcia (19:06), Enrique Vivar (19:08)
and Willi Rodriguez (19:09)
The Estancia girls team defeated Westminster, 15-43. The Eagles
