New logo for town council

December 17, 2005|By By Tania Chatila

The Crescenta Valley Town Council approved a new design for its logo Thursday night, with all but one member voting in favor of the change.

"Some of us on the council, in addition to members of the community who contacted members of the council, felt they wanted to update and create a new logo for the community," Council President Sharon Hales said. The council's old logo -- approved on in 1989, when the council first started -- featured a children's drawing of a mountain range and sun. The new logo, which will begin use Jan. 1, was designed by La Crescenta resident Richard Toyon, a production designer by trade.

It features a sketch of a twisted Engleman Oak Tree and the San Gabriel Mountains in the background.

"I actually took a hike up into the San Gabriel mountains, above La Crescenta ... and I sat there and sketched the valley," Toyon said. The new logo will be used on the council's website, on member's badges and business cards. 20051217irm6h3nc
