Despite tying Pasadena, 3-3, in the semifinal consolation bracket of the La Cañada Holiday Classic on Dec. 15, the Crescenta Valley boys' varsity soccer lost the contest on penalty kicks.
The Bulldogs out kicked the Falcons, 4-2. With the defeat, CV fell to 5-6 overall.
CV came back from a 3-0 deficit, with Alex Gruenberg scoring two goals and Leandro Bernhardt getting the third one, but Pasadena still prevailed on the penalty boots.
In a consolation quarterfinal match on Dec. 14, the Falcons blanked Los Angeles Baptist, 1-0, on an unassisted goal by Juan Acuna.
