In the first day of pool play at the Newhall Hart High Holiday Tournament on Tuesday, the Crescenta Valley girls' varsity soccer team won a match and tied another one.
The Falcons, who are 4-1-5 overall, played Sherman Oaks Notre Dame to a 1-1 tie. CV scored its only goal early in the first half on a penalty kick by Brittney Berger.
In another match earlier in the day, the Falcons edged Chatsworth, 2-1.
Sydney Vermillion and Kelli Wirth each scored a goal for CV.
Although the Falcons tied Flintridge Prep, 2-2, in inaugural Big Toe Soccer Holiday Festival pool play on Dec. 19 at the Glendale Sports Complex, the Rebels were awarded the win on penalty kicks, 3-2.
