He took second in the Division I state meet, finishing three seconds shy of first place in 15 minutes 18 seconds at Fresno's Woodward Park.
That mark was the third-fastest time ever by an area athlete, behind only Hoover's Margarito Casillas, who ran 15:14 in 1991 and won the state title in 1992 with a 15:03.
At the CIF Finals, Sellers -- the Pacific League champion -- was third at Mt. SAC after running an impressive 14:59.
Team wise, Flintridge Prep's girls' team captured the CIF Southern Section Division V title and joined three other teams in the state meet.
Crescenta Valley's girls' team made its first appearance in program history, and were joined by La Cañada's and Flintridge Prep's boys' teams.
The Rebel boys took second in the Division V race, which marked the ninth time in as many years that Flintridge Prep has finished in the top three.
During that time, the Rebels have four state titles and four runner-up finishes.
In the college ranks, Glendale Community College's men's team captured the Southern California Championships and its women's program took third at state.
GIRLS' VOLLEYBALL
Flintridge Sacred Heart and La Cañada were again the area's top teams.
The Spartans, led by All-Area selection Morgan Anderson, captured the Rio Hondo League title before falling to San Luis Obispo in three games in the Division IIIAA quarterfinals.
The Tologs went a step further in the Division IVAA playoffs, but were upset in five games by La Salle in the semifinals, 23-25, 24-26, 25-21, 25-23, 18-16.
Still, Flintridge Sacred Heart won a program-best 30 matches and captured another Mission League championship.
GIRLS' TENNIS
Only La Cañada captured a league championship, but three locals in all made the Division II playoffs.
The Spartans won the Rio Hondo League but lost to Pacific League-champion Arcadia in the second round.
Crescenta Valley, which finished ahead of Glendale in the Pacific League, lost in the first round to Huntington Beach.
The Nitros lost in the wild-card round, falling to San Marcos.
GIRLS' GOLF
Just two local schools fielded girls' golf teams, but the area still made some headlines.
Team wise, Flintridge Sacred Heart took second in the always-competitive Mission League.
Individually, Crescenta Valley sophomore Christine Cho finished third in the CIF Southern Section Girls' Individual Championship.
Cho carded an even-par 73 at the Diamond Bar Golf Course.
