CV Water District Mulls Proposed Cell Tower Pact

It was a short agenda, but a long meeting as Crescenta Valley Town Council members question the Crescenta Valley Water District board of directors about a proposed cellular tower site rental agreement with T-Mobile at the board's Jan. 10 meeting.

The board also considered an Information Technology Position for the District as well as a contract to move forward with a GIS services on the sewer collection system.

The District is considering leasing space at the Shields reservoir site to T-Mobile for a period of five years with a renewal option. The site, which lies above the housing line at the top La Crescenta Avenue in the Pinecone area, is already the site of a double electrical tower. The District will be working with CVTC members Monday, followed by further consideration from the Board at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The public is encouraged to attend.

The District has requested that a representative from T-Mobile attend the Tuesday Board Meeting to answer questions relative to the Cell Phone tower its effects on health and the environment.

The district will move forward with progression into Geographical Information Systems technology by digitizing sewer maps, interceptor and mains. As the District brings forward its sewer system into the present and looks toward the future, GIS technology will aide in coordinating all of the sewer programs, cleaning, maintenance and repair as well as assisting in emergency operations and overflows.

The district is considering adding an Information Technology Position to replace services performed by at least four other contractors. The numbers show that a yearly expenditures and projected projects warrant the creation of the new position. The general manager and staff will be preparing a job description to be submitted to the Board for approval at a later date.
