CV Boys' Varsity Basketball Falls to Pasadena, 63-38

The Crescenta Valley boys' varsity basketball team fell behind 18-9 in the first quarter of a Pacific League game against visiting Pasadena on Tuesday and never recovered.

The Falcons lost, 63-38, to fall to 8-13 overall and to 1-4 in league.

CV will host Arcadia in league today (Friday) at 7 p.m., travel to Glendale next Tuesday for a 4:45 p.m. league contest and will visit Glendale Hoover next Friday for a 7 p.m. league encounter.

The Falcons closed the gap by halftime, 31-25, but were knocked out in the third quarter when the Bulldogs outscored them, 17-2.

Eric Strangis topped the Falcons with 12 points. Eugene Yi and Clay Sierra contributed five points each. A.J. Goudeau scored four points, Izaac Dasaard finished with three points and Noah Garcia added two points.

Earlier, CV blew open a tight league game against host Pasadena Muir last Friday by outscoring the Mustangs in a second overtime and winning, 75-64.

The Falcons led Muir 9-8 at the ends of the first quarter, but the Mustangs jumped out to a 19-16 advantage at halftime. Muir led 31-29 after three quarters, but CV tied the contest up, 46-46, at the end of regulation. Each team scored 11 points in the first overtime period to stay tied at 57-57, but CV outscored the Mustangs, 18-7, in the second overtime to win the game.

The Falcons' Yi led all scorers with 29 points, including eight 3-point baskets. Strangis was next with 15 points, including two 3-pointers, and seven assists.

Sierra came through with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Dasaard added seven points, including one 3-pointer, Garcia finished with four points and nine rebounds and Goudeau has two points and seven rebounds.
