Weather Causes Three Crashes

The weekend's cold and wet weather caused a truck to roll over Monday morning and two cars to skid onto the shoulder of the freeway Sunday morning.

The wintry weekend weather caused a truck to roll over on Angeles Forest Highway at about 9 a.m.

A 55-year-old Lancaster man driving a 2002 Mazda pickup truck hit some ice on a turn on Angeles Forest Highway one mile south of Big Tujunga Canyon Road.

The man was transported by ambulance to Verdugo Hills Hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries. The truck was deemed a total loss.

Just a day earlier, two accidents caused by the rain happened within minutes of each other on the Foothill (210) Freeway.

The first happened at about 7:30 a.m. Feb. 19 when a 48-year-old Castaic woman lost control of her 2000 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck near the Briggs Avenue overpass and spun onto the right shoulder of the east 210 freeway.

She was transported to VHH by ambulance after complaining of pain. Just two minutes earlier a 28-year-old Glendale man traveling west on the 210 freeway near Briggs Avenue lost control of his 1998 Honda Accord and spun to the right shoulder.
