Kiwanis car show coming Sunday

The 13th annual Jewel City Kiwanis Car Show will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday at Verdugo Park, 1621 Cañada Blvd., Glendale.

The event will feature food and vendor booths as well as dozens of vintage cars and hot rods including Model T's, 1970s muscle cars, Ferraris, motorcycles and more.

A silent auction will include items such as a ride on the Glendale Police Department's helicopter, lunch with a fireman and a fire station tour, a stunt biplane ride and dinner packages at various area restaurants.

sponsors workshop

A watercolor workshop will be conducted by Joseph Stoddard from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 8 at Citibank Community Room, 2350 Honolulu Ave., Montrose.

The workshop is sponsored by the Verdugo Hills Art Assn.

The fee is $45 for members and $55 for guests. Reservations are required and can be made by calling (323) 256-1478.

'Li'l Abner'

comes to the Alex

Musical Theatre Guild will present "Li'l Abner," at 7:30 p.m. April 24 at the Alex Theatre, 216 N. Brand Blvd., Glendale.

The play tells of Daisy Mae's quest for marriage in Dogpatch, USA. Featured are Abner, Daisy Mae, Stupefyin' Jones and, of course, Apassionata Von Climax.

The performance is appropriate for ages 6 and older.
