"But for our 80th year we decided to take a more reflective pose and honor the organizations that have sustained us," she said.
Representatives of the groups being honored were introduced to the board of directors during a tea on March 30 at the La Cañada Flintridge home of Joan Allan, immediate past president of the board.
Those attending were Ellyn Semler of Wells Fargo Foothill; Terri Murray, Capital Group Companies; Doris Boyer, chairwoman and president of the Glendale Community Foundation; Lou Rhodes, president of Soroptimist International of Glendale; and Adele Wolff, National Charity League, Glendale Chapter. Another group that will be honored at the luncheon is the Avon Breast Care Foundation.
Also being honored was the Valerie Lew of La Cañada High School, this year's recipient of the Jane O'Connor Community Volunteer Student award.
Proceeds from the Legacy Luncheon go to the YWCA's Domestic Violence Project and EncorePlus, which provides breast and cervical cancer screening for women who face obstacles in receiving affordable screenings.
