Ten Years Ago …

Then in its 13th year, the Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Station launched its annual membership drive and set out to concentrate on two areas: supporting overall crime prevention and strengthening the station's Youth Explorer Program.

Twenty Years Ago …

The third annual Montrose Arts and Crafts Festival, to be held in the Montrose Shopping Park, was in the planning stages during April 1986. Chairman of the event was Lindsay Waltman.

Thirty Years Ago …

Betty Kinsel of Glendale became Oakmont Country Club's 1976 lady champion following a convincing victory in the women's four-day Club Championship played in late April of that year. She shot a score of 351 in the 72-hole competition of the Championship Flight to win the title by eight strokes. Coming in second was Whiting Woods resident Gloria Phillips, who finished the event with a score of 359.

Forty Years Ago …

Television celebrity Steve Allen was the guest speaker of the Crescenta-Cañada Human Relations Council meeting, held at Crescenta Valley High. The then 44-year-old Allen spoke on the topic: "Education: The Key to Today's Problems."

Fifty Years Ago …

The Crescenta-Cañada Pet Hospital, operated by J.A. Crump, DVM and W. G. Walker, DVM, opened for business at 3502 Foothill Boulevard in La Crescenta.
