"I'm looking forward to working with all the cities in our sector," said Najarian, who was nominated to the post by the North County and San Fernando Valley sector selection committee.
"I plan on holding a series of summits with elected officials from those cities to discuss priorities within the sector."
He said he will also begin working with county supervisors who represent areas within the sector, including Michael Antonovich and Zev Yaroslavsky. Besides Glendale, cities in the sector include Burbank, La CaƱada Flintridge, Lancaster, Santa Clarita, San Fernando and Malibu.
Najarian's term will run through Jan. 1, 2009. Members of the board are appointed to four year terms.
Holy Redeemer put on religious comedy
Holy Redeemer School will host "Late Night Catechism," an off-Broadway comedy hit play as a fundraiser for the eighth-grade class at 8 p.m. May 6, in the school hall at 2361 Del Mar Road in Montrose.
Tickets are $30 each for adults and $20 each for children 14 and younger.

College club holds fundraiser
Students Against Global Poverty, a Glendale Community College student organization, is hosting its first fundraiser event from 6 to 8 p.m. today, in the student center.
Local businesses donated food and beverages for the event and a DJ will play music as guests learn about ending global poverty.
Club leaders will conduct a raffle at the end of the event.
Proceeds go to the efforts of the Millennium Project, commissioned by the United Nations Secretary General in 2002.

Candidates' forum upcoming
The Armenian American Real Estate Assn. will host a Candidates' Forum for the 43rd State Assembly district for from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the Glendale Pacific Community Center, 435 S. Pacific Ave.
The 43rd District covers the cities of Glendale, Burbank, Los Feliz, Silver Lake, Atwater, North Hollywood areas of the city of Los Angeles.
There is primary election scheduled for Tuesday, June 6.
