Officer injured in freeway crash

An off-duty Los Angeles Police Department motor officer suffered minor injuries in a collision on the Glendale (2) Freeway just after midnight on Wednesday, authorities said.

The officer was traveling north on the Glendale (2) Freeway at the Ventura (134) Freeway interchange when the accident occurred, California Highway Patrol Officer Patrick Kimbell said.

"There was an obstruction in his path, he tried to avoid it, and went down with his motorcycle," Los Angeles Police Sgt. Lee Sands said. The officer was transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital for minor injuries, and released shortly after, Sands said. No other vehicles were involved, Kimbell said.
