La Crescenta opened the tournament Saturday at Riverside's Big League Dreams with a 13-5 victory against the Mission Viejo-based Cal Knights. La Crescenta overcame a four-run deficit by scoring 12 runs in the fourth inning.
Tyler Pollak recorded a double for the Bobcats, which got a good relief effort from Perugini. Pollak drove in four runs.
The Bobcats responded with a 6-2 win against the Wave. La Crescenta scored six runs in the sixth. The Bobcats scored their runs based on seven singles, two walks and an error. Fagundo and Kyle Pomeroy played well defensively for the Bobcats, who got a good pitching performance from Jason Kim.
La Crescenta split two games Sunday in Menifee. It opened with a 10-0 victory against the South Pasadena-based San Gabriel Valley Cobras. The Bobcats scored five first-inning runs, highlighted by a two-run double by Mark Sereno. Kim added a bases-loaded double.
The Bobcats then dropped a 9-5 decision to the Orange Longhorns. Sereno had a double and Perugini pitched well in relief.
Glendale Knights win tournament championship: Troy Prasertsit had three hits and scored three runs to carry the Glendale Knights, a 12-and-under squad, to an 8-4 victory against the Lynwood White Sox in the championship game of the NBC Pre-Memorial Weekend Tournament in Rowland Heights.
The Knights advanced to the title game with an 8-0 win against the Anaheim Lumberjacks. Andre Real hit a home run and pitcher Jay Cordero tossed a two-hitter for the Knights.
Glendale won its three pool-play contests.
Pitchers Elliot Surrey and Nate Rousey combined on a two-hitter to earn a 6-0 win against the White Sox. Kenny Mathews and Real then combined for a three-hitter to lead the Knights to an 8-0 victory against the San Gabriel Valley Cobras.
Will Davis, Brandon Van Horn and Conor Frederick combined on a two-hitter to spark Glendale to an 11-1 win against the San Gabriel Stars.
