Police Seek Suspects in U.S. Bank Robbery Case

June 02, 2006|By Mary O'Keefe

The Glendale Police Department is seeking two men who allegedly robbed the US Bank located inside Vons Market at 3233 Foothill Blvd. at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 27.

Witnesses said the men approached the tellers. While one suspect acted as look out, the other allegedly vaulted over the bank counter and ordered the employees to give him money. No weapons were reported. The men were then seen leaving the parking lot in a silver Nissan Altima.

The men are described by police as black and in their late 20s.

The same U.S. Bank location was robbed April 6 when two men the FBI has dubbed the "007 Bandits" approached the tellers and allegedly demanded money. That investigation is still ongoing. The two robberies do not appear to be related, GPD Officer John Balian said.

GPD also seeks the public's assistance in identifying a man who is suspected of robbing another man at knifepoint at a Washington Mutual ATM at 620 N. Brand Blvd. in Glendale.

That suspect asked a man who was making a deposit at the ATM and for gas money. The robber then allegedly pulled out a 4-inch silver hunting knife and demanded money while making stabbing motions toward the victim. A struggle ensued during which the robber allegedly grabbed the victim's cellular phone and $240 in cash.

The robber is described a man of Middle Eastern descent, about 25 years old standing about 5-feet, 9-inches tall and weighing about 200 pounds. He was wearing an Armani Exchange black T-shirt.

Anyone with information on either robbery should contact Detective Jeff Newton at 548-3987.
