The 17-year-old Steben, who walked in his graduation ceremony earlier Saturday, recorded a personal-best and school-record mark of 15 feet 11. Steben, who is the reigning All-Area Male Track and Field Athlete of the Year, earned a medal for placing in the top six.
Sellers, who was selected the All-Area Male Cross-Country Runner of the Year in the fall, clocked 9 minutes 38.23 seconds despite battling a nagging cough for several days.
The duo left the venue with no regrets following their performances in front of a crowd of more than 4,000.
"I got what I wanted," said Steben, who won the Mission League and the CIF Southern Section Division III championships in May.
"I reached my goals that I set out before the season began.
"To get a personal-record in the State Meet is awesome. I was so hyped, and I accomplished everything."
Steben, who might attend Cal State Fullerton in the fall, cleared 15-11 on his second attempt after earlier clearing 14-5, 14-11 and 15-5 on his first attempts. He qualified for the championship after notching a mark of 15-4 in the preliminaries Friday.
Scott Roth of Granite Bay won his third consecutive state championship, topping it with a vault of 16-11.
Sellers, who will attend Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, clocked 4:30 through the first half of the eight-lap race and stayed within the top-10 of the 30 competitors. However, Sellers, who finished second in the Division I CIF State Cross-Country Championships in November, seemed to be bothered by his illness while competing in 90-plus degree temperatures.
"My shoe came untied on the second lap and I started to cough around the third lap," said Sellers, who became the first Falcon boys' athlete to participate in the State Meet since Phil Gonzalez did it in 1995 in the same event.
"I gave it my all to the finish.
"I had to finish because a lot of people came down to see me. It's great to be out there with all of that talent and I can say that I raced with those guys."
Sellers, who captured Pacific League championships in the 1,600 and 3,200, qualified for his first appearance in the State Meet after he took third with a personal-best mark of 9:02.92 on May 26 at the CIF Masters Meet at Cerritos College.
Royal's Michael Cybulski repeated as state champion after recording a mark of 8:53.77.
