School's Festival of Arts Includes Award Presentations

June 09, 2006

St. Francis High School recently celebrated its 10th Annual Festival of the Arts, a week-long event that featured the SFHS Drumline's "Sound & Light" presentation, a fine arts exhibit and Men's Chorus concert.

The week concluded with the 10th Annual Mass Media Film Festival and Drama Awards presentations.

The mass media film festival included teams of students producing a music video, documentary, short feature and final feature, which had to be an original story and at least 20 minutes in length.

Top honors in the "Final Feature" went to "A322." Matt Morris won best director and teamed with Xander Parisky for best screenplay. Other Final Feature awards included: David Yeomans (editing, videography, both for "A322"), Andres Magana (concept), Andrew Halpin (actor), Andrew Binder (supporting actor) and Ryan Tanker (music score).

Tanker and Yeomans each won five awards, while Conor Hogan took home four in the "Short Feature" category.

Morris and Yeomans were named "Most Valuable Performers" for the 2005-2006 drama season, during which the school's fall presentation of "Romeo and Juliet" won six out of eight possible first-place awards from the California Educational Theater Association.

Emmanuel Eulalia is the St. Francis drama director and chair of the visual and performing arts department.
