St. Francis High Commencement

June 16, 2006

One hundred and forty-seven young men were graduated on June 3 on the campus of St. Francis High School in La Cañada Flintridge.

Fr. Antonio Marti, OFM Cap, the Provincial of the Western American Province of the Capuchin Franciscan Order, represented his Eminence Cardinal Roger Mahony, Archbishop of Los Angeles at the graduation. Fr. Matthew Elshoff, OFM Cap, the school president, and Mr. Thomas Moran, the school principal, also officiated at the 57th commencement ceremony of the local Catholic, college-preparatory institution.

Valedictorian Christopher Burt Saunders of Glendale and Senior Class representative Moises Humberto Gallegos of Pasadena gave formal addresses to the audience. Christopher Burt Saunders received the Capuchin Award and Medal for Scholarship. Receiving Bank of America Achievement Plaques were Matthew George Morris and Salutatorian Peter James Grace in Liberal Arts and Christopher Burt Saunders for Science and Mathematics.

Bank of America Certificates were awarded to graduates in the following categories: Art, Andrew Hyunwoo Kim; English, Matthew Joseph Walsh; Fine Arts, David Bradley Yeomans; Foreign Language, Neel Tosh Kasliwal and Christopher David Raba; Mass Media, Ryan Matthew Salzman; Mathematics, Spencer Blakely Kirkwood; Publications, Zayd Bassam Sharif; Religion, Alvaro Berrios and Peter Matthew Ferris; Science, Kevin Joseph Mack and Alexander Michael Parisky; and Social Studies, Benjamin Joseph Freeman.
