Police Arrest Five in Whiting Woods

June 30, 2006|By Mary O'Keefe

Glendale police arrested five people June 24 on charges ranging from parole violations, warrants and suspicion of possession of narcotic paraphernalia at a home in the 3700 block of Hillway Drive in the Whiting Woods area of Glendale.

"We have had a number of complaints by neighbors of disturbances and the people who lived there," Glendale Police Department Sgt. Tom Lorenz said.

According to police reports, a black and white police car was driving in the area last Saturday morning. The officer observed two people, later identified as Ashlee Coffey, 21, of Burbank, and Andre Sanadria, 33, of Glendale, standing in front of the residence. Upon seeing the officer, the report alleges Sanadria ran into the residence.

The officer approached Coffey, requesting identification. Coffey allegedly gave her sister's identification instead of her own and was not arrested until police officers later learned a parolee at large was residing at the house. She did not possess any contraband.

Officers set up a perimeter surrounding the home and requested the assistance of a helicopter.

They searched the home and detained four people, including Coffey, who was inside. One suspect, Ian Soovajian, 23, of Montrose, was found hiding in the home's shower.

Sanadria allegedly fled the scene. The air unit, as well as officers on foot and a k-9 unit, patrolled the neighborhood searching for Sanadria. During the search, officers discovered blood stains on a vacant home in the 3700 block of El Lado Drive. A search of the home was conducted and no suspects were found. The owner was called and verified that several table linens were missing.

Another neighbor in the 3800 block of El Lado Drive reported to officers that a man fitting Sanadria's description was hiding in his backyard. Officers arrested Sanadria on suspicion of burglary, of obstruction of an officer in performance of his duty and on a parole violation. Sanadria is being held in lieu of $10,000 bail at the Men's Central Jail in Los Angeles. His next court date is scheduled for July 6 at Glendale Municipal Court.

Coffey is charged with giving an officer false identification and on an outstanding warrant. She is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail. Her next court date has yet to be assigned.

Soovajian was arrested on suspicion of committing a parole violation. He is held without bail, and a court date has yet to be assigned.

Sara Whiteaker, 23, who was not carrying any identification, is charged with being under the influence of a controlled substance. She is being held in lieu of $2,500 bail, no court date has yet been assigned.

Paul White, 48, of Glendale, is charged with suspicion of possession of narcotic paraphernalia and parole violation. He is being held in lieu of $250 bail. No court date has been assigned.
