Hay bales restrict freeway traffic

Between 40 and 50 bales of hay fell off a tractor-trailer rig on the westbound lane of Foothill (210) Freeway at Ventura (134) Freeway at about 1:21 p.m. Monday, the California Highway Patrol reported.

Two lanes on the 134 Freeway were blocked until about 3:55 p.m., said Officer Patrick Kimball.

No accidents or injuries were caused by the mishap, though traffic was restricted to low speeds through two lanes, Kimball said.

Records did not indicate whether officers cited the driver of the tractor trailer, Kimball said.

Man rescued from Brand Park trail

A 35-year-old man was rescued Saturday night after losing his glasses and getting lost while hiking along the Brand Park trail, Glendale Fire Department officials said.

The man began his hike Saturday night, and at about 8:30 p.m. lost his glasses in some brush, Glendale Fire Capt. Steven Parrish said.

He called 911 from his cellphone, Parrish said. The Fire Department sent out firefighters, an urban search-and-rescue team and a back-up rescue team from Pasadena to find the man, Parrish said.

Firefighters hiked the canyon to where the man was and helped him get to a fire road along the trail, Parrish said.

The man was not injured, he said.

Home damaged in electrical fire

A Kenwood Road home undergoing renovations sustained $30,000 in structural damages on Friday night after an electrical fire broke out inside, Fire Department officials said.

The fire started at about 6:45 p.m. in the 100 block South Kenwood Street, Glendale Fire Capt. Bill Lynch said.

The fire moved from a ground-level room to the single-story home's attic. It took firefighters about 20 minutes to extinguish it, Lynch said.

No one was home at the time of the fire, he said.
