BERNICE 'BEA' ABBEY
Bernice Abbey, 89, died on July 31, 2006.
Abbey was a resident of La Cañada Flintridge since 1950. She wrote a travel column for the La Cañada Valley Sun newspaper based on her and her husband Frank’s travels. She worked as a receptionist at the Valley Sun before starting her column in 1973.
She also was an avid supporter of local sports, co-founding a junior football program in La Cañada Flintridge in 1967 and forming a women’s support group for the Junior All-American Football Assn.
