GLENDALE — The Crescenta Valley Major Softball All-Star team didn't start the Western Regionals the way it planned, but after readjusting its goals, it ended the tournament just like it designed.

After losing its first two Southwest pool-play games and dropping out of contention for the tournament's semifinals, Crescenta Valley sought to win its final two regional games. And that's exactly what it did.

A day after defeating Lincoln County Little League of Panaca, Nev., Crescenta Valley closed out its summer with a 10-2 victory against Mile High Little League of Butte, Mont. on Thursday in Vancouver, Wash.

"The kids played with great spirit," said Crescenta Valley assistant coach Alan Eberhart, whose team received strong performances from a multitude of players, including CeCe Martinez, Raleigh NeJame, Delaney Gay, Jordan Eberhart, Audrianna Pardo and Shelby Gregg. "It was a fun group that worked really hard. It really paid off. We told the kids, 'This is one of those moments you'll never forget.'"

Crescenta Valley — which took third in last year's regionals — finished the summer with a 13-4 record, including a 2-2 mark in Washington. Along the way, it captured District 16, Section 2 and Division 3 championships.
