Zarian show will focus on war in Iraq

Former Glendale Mayor Larry Zarian will host Army Col. Mark MacCarley, a Glendale attorney, on the next episode of "The Larry Zarian Forum."

The show will air at 7 p.m. Thursday on Charter Cable Channel 26.

MacCarley, who returned about a month ago from serving in Iraq, will provide his perspective of the war and what is happening in that country.

Tickets on sale for float fundraising

The city's "Dreaming of Roses" event — a fundraiser for the Glendale's Tournament of Roses float entry — is from 4 to 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 10 at the KABC-TV Channel 7 studios, at 500 Circle Seven Drive.

The event, which draws hundreds of guests, will include food and drinks from more than 40 area restaurants, entertainment and an auction for seats on Glendale's float.

Tickets purchased before Friday are $50, after Friday they are $60.

City sponsoring its fifth Unity Fest

The city will host its fifth annual Unity Fest cultural event from noon to 6 p.m. on Oct. 1 at Verdugo Park, at 1621 Cañada Blvd.

The event, themed "Unity in Diversity," is a festival featuring food, arts-and-crafts booths and entertainment from different cultures.

Councilman Bob Yousefian is this year's chairman.

Admission and parking are free.

Hospital offering infant-care course

Verdugo Hills Hospital offers an Infant-care Workshop on the third Tuesday of each month.

Using life-like dolls, expectant parents can learn how to change diapers, bathe and hold their baby, take their temperature and perform basic first aid.

The workshop takes place from 7 to 9 p.m. on the fourth floor.

The cost is $30 for hospital patients and $35 for non-patients.
