Cal Phil 'Festival on the Green' Closes 10th Season With "Dance Fever," Sept. 9

And what dance concert would be complete without tunes from the legendary writing team of Lennon-McCartney? A medley of songs by he Beatles includes "Eleanor Rigby," "Yesterday," "A Hard Day's Night," "Fool on the Hill," "Please Please Me" and George Harrison's "Something."

British band Queen ruled the world of stadium rock concerts with the 1977 release of their musical declaration, "We Are the Champions," that became one of the world's enduring sports anthems.

Arturo Marquez's "Danzón No. 2" (1994) combines French, African, Cuban and Mexican elements in a rondo form work full of tremendous vigor and color, and has become the Mexican composer's best-known work.

"Cal Phil Festival on the Green" concerts are held at the L.A. County Arboretum and begin at 7:30 p.m. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. for live jazz and dining. The Arboretum is located at 301 N. Baldwin Ave., Arcadia.
