Crescenta Valley got eight kills from Myra Nishizaki and four aces from Maggie Rajtar.
The Falcons, who finished third in the Pacific League last season, will next face visiting Louisville at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday in another nonleague contest.

Glendale 12, Mark Keppel 6: The host Nitros opened their season Thursday with a convincing nonleague victory.
Glendale singles players Meldia Hacobian and Sevana Zargarian each swept their sets by posting 6-4, 6-3, 6-2 wins.
The Glendale doubles tandem of Sona Karakashian and Joyce Librando notched a 6-2, 6-4, 6-0 sweep.
The Nitros will next compete in a Pacific League match at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday against visiting Burbank, which begins its inaugural season in league.
GIRLS' CROSS-COUNTRY
Crescenta Valley in season-opening nonleague tri-meet: The Falcons turned to junior Rachel Lange, who won the race in 18 minutes 32 seconds to help Crescenta Valley topple Newbury Park and Camarillo at Peppertree Park in Newbury Park on Thursday.
Crescenta Valley, which has won three-straight Pacific League titles, edged Newbury Park, 23-32, and Camarillo, 19-37.
Claire Collison also clocked 18:32 for the Falcons, who got a third-place finish from Michelle Callister (19:48).
BOYS' CROSS-COUNTRY
Crescenta Valley in season-opening nonleague tri-meet: Michael Sheridan and Zack Torres each clocked 15 minutes 54 seconds to spark the Falcons on Thursday in a tri-meet with Newbury Park and Camarillo at Newbury Park's Peppertree Park.
Eric Kleinsasser had a mark of 15:59 for the Falcons, who beat Newbury Park, 15-44, and Camarillo, 15-50.
GIRLS' GOLF
Crescenta Valley in Pacific League Match No. 1: The Falcons began their season Thursday with a third-place finish at Sylmar's El Cariso Golf Course No. 1.
Crescenta Valley, which finished with a team total of 195, received a three-over-par 34 from junior Christine Cho. Amy Pramuantong carded a 35 for the Falcons, who got a 38 from Katie Park.
WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL
Chaffey College 3, Glendale Community College 1: Christine Hyman recorded a team-high 16 kills and 11 digs for the visiting Vaqueros in Wednesday's 28-30, 30-19, 30-24, 31-29 nonconference match.
Glendale College (0-2) got eight kills from Susie Marco and six aces and 30 assists from Alyssa Rosca.
