News From the Crescenta Valley Chamber:Crescenta Valley Chamber Accepting Recognition Banquet Applications

The Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce is accepting applications for its annual Recognition Banquet, which will be held at La Cañada Flintridge Country Club.

At this event, awards will be presented in the categories of Man of the Year, Woman of the Year, Business of the Year, Organization of the Year, Educator of the Year and Volunteer of the Year. An award for beautification will also be presented, and the chamber will recognize individuals in the fire department and law enforcement whose names are submitted by their departments.

Individuals or organizations may make nominations. Award recipients will be chosen based on the following criteria: contributions to the improvement of the business environment; exceptional achievement or service to our community; and outstanding social, civic or educational leadership.

Deadline for nominations is Friday, Sept. 29. The awards will be presented at the annual banquet on Thursday, Dec. 7. The theme for this year is the USO. There are at least 120 USO centers around the world, and on this special evening there will be 121. We think you will enjoy this nostalgic trip to the past and hope you will join us for the memories.

Submissions can be mailed to the Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce, 3131 Foothill Blvd. No. D, La Crescenta CA 91214. Applications are also available for the 5K RUN/WALK taking place Saturday, Oct. 14. The jog will start and end at Two Strike Park, with check-in beginning at 7 a.m. The run starts at 8 a.m. and the walk at 8:05 a.m. This year, 10% of the entry fees will be donated to the Desi Geestman Foundation.
