To notch a victory, Crescenta Valley quarterback Bryan Harter and Co. must kick into gear an offense that has scored just 14 points this year.

Glendale at South Pasadena, 7 p.m. (Friday): Glendale improved its play by leaps and bounds last week, losing to La CaƱada, 27-8, a week after falling to Alhambra, 53-0.

Now it must contend with a South Pasadena squad (2-0) that shut out archrival Hoover, 34-0, last Friday.

The Tigers, who feature a well-balanced offense run by quarterback Michael Flynn, lost to Glendale, 21-7, in 2005.

Hoover vs. Blair at Muir High, 7 p.m. (Friday): Last year, Hoover got off to a 2-0 start and, in Week 5, collected its third win against Blair, 38-30.

Blair would go on to a winless season.

Well, Blair (1-1) picked up a victory in Week One against Marshall Fundamental, 28-0.

Hoover (0-2) is still searching for a win and the end zone, as it's been held scoreless in its last six quarters of play.

Flintridge Prep vs. Maranatha at Maranatha High, 2 p.m. (Saturday): It will no doubt be the battle for Maranatha High. Flintridge Prep (2-0) now plays its home games, which Saturday is considered, at Maranatha High.

Led by running back Mark Love and his 344 yards rushing on the season, Maranatha (2-0) has outscored its foes by a whopping 113-15 margin.

Flintridge Prep, the 10th-ranked team in the East Valley Division, looks to avenge last year's 20-0 loss. Senior running back Zach Goldstein, who's rushed for 288 yards in two games, will be a focal point.
