GCC Announces Fee Reduction

September 29, 2006

The Glendale Community College Board of Trustees recently approved a reduction in the state's community college enrollment fee from $26 per semester unit to $20 beginning with the winter session.

Initially, provisions of AB 1808 stated that community college districts were not permitted to lower the enrollment fee until the spring 2007 term. But this was problematic for many colleges that had inter-sessions beginning before spring 2007. Students that register simultaneously for both winter and spring would be paying two different fees, $26 for an inter-session and $20 for a semester. The Board of Governors of the California Community Colleges adopted a resolution to allow districts to reduce the enrollment fee for any term or inter-session beginning on or after January 1, 2007 with a requirement for local board approval.
