Rosemont Hosts Back to School Barbecue

September 29, 2006

Rosemont Middle School welcomed students and their families back to school with a barbecue on Friday evening, Sept. 22 at the campus.

Damp weather didn't hinder the enthusiasm of the many families that attended the event which began at 5 p.m. and lasted until dusk.

The Jewel City Kiwanis provided a variety of barbecue items for sale that were served by Crescenta Valley High School cheerleaders who themselves were alumni of Rosemont.

Local rock band Ronnie and the Classics, had everyone smiling and snapping their fingers as the group played hits from the '50s, '60s, and '70s in the school's amphitheater.

Some of the students and their friends played impromptu games of football on the grassy fields while others sat in small groups, chatting away.

The relaxed atmosphere was a welcome change from the busy-ness of Rosemont's Back to School Night on Wednesday, Sept. 20 when parents of the 1,400-plus students attended their children's classes to learn what was expected from their kids over the next academic year.
