GLENDALE — A man robbed Bank of America on Brand Boulevard on Tuesday, taking off with an undisclosed amount of cash just before the bank closed, police said.

The robber fled before police arrived, but was described by police as a tall, thin, white or Latino man between the ages of 25 and 30, Glendale Police Officer John Balian said.

He was wearing sunglasses, a beige cap and a white sweater and a backpack, he said.

"The man walked up to a teller and demanded money, and the teller gave the suspect an unknown amount," Balian said.

There were no weapons seen and no one was injured in the robbery, he said. The man attempted to show a note to the teller, Balian said. But he ended up verbally demanding the money, he added.

Several officers arrived on the scene shortly after the robbery, which occurred at about 6 p.m., and interviewed patrons who had been in the bank during the incident.

"The police just came out with the guns and walked into the bank," said Greg Izan, who saw the incident while walking down Brand Boulevard.

Several witnesses interviewed did not even realize the crime had occurred until police arrived.

"The only thing I saw was the cops come in with their guns, said Olina Brice, who was in the bank during the robbery. "I wasn't nervous until I saw them."

Other patrons of the bank also said the robbery happened quickly and quietly.

"I guess somebody came to the teller and asked her to give the money," patron Edward Hakopian of Glendale said.

Police had not identified a suspect or determined the amount that was taken.
