Along the Scouting Trails:Two Join Ranks of Eagle Scouts

Michael Worley was born to Terry and Michelle Worley on July 18, 1988. He was born in Provo, Utah, but has also lived in Fremont, Calif.; Redmond, Wash. He later moved to Pleasanton, before moving to La CaƱada in early 2001.

He has five wonderful siblings, Caitlin, Jason, Alex, Jenna and Eric.

Michael attended high school at Clark Magnet High School, where did his Eagle Project. He studied math, with a special emphasis, going from algebra to calculus, in four years.

While in high school, he participated in the high school grading and reporting committee, as well as on the Scholastic Bowl team his senior year. His interests include mathematics (his major), computers, current affairs and friends.

He graduated with honors and the AP calculus award.

He now attends Brigham Young University where he intends to take yet more mathematics courses.

He will take a two-year break from his studies to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints starting next summer.


Paul Rawlins, son of Ken and Shelly Rawlins, was born in Glendale on March 21, 1989. He is big brother to Sean, Daniel and Peter.

Paul is a third generation Eagle Scout and has been involved in scouting since Cub Scouts with Pack 395, where he earned the Arrow of Light Award.

In Boy Scouts, Paul has enjoyed earning his merit badges, with the electricity merit badge being his favorite, as he was able to work with and learn from Lyn Bradley one summer.

He attended Fremont Elementary, Rosemont Middle School, Glendale High School and Crescenta Valley High School, where he is a senior.

Paul has enjoyed computer and construction classes and cross country.

Paul has plans to attend Brigham Young University in Idaho in fall 2007, majoring in construction management, with an emphasis in architecture or computer engineering.

Paul is preparing to serve a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the spring of 2008.

Paul's Eagle Project helped out Cloud Preschool in La Crescenta. He restored the wooden kitchen sets and wooden blocks.

He also traced and cut out aprons for the children to protect their clothing while painting.
