La Crescenta resident Dean Wiberg said this week he was looking to provide some community service in running for the Foothill District Water Board. "Maybe it's kind of a Boy Scout thing," Wiberg said.
The 14-year La Crescenta resident is an engineer with the applied technology office at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
He said he is familiar with western water issues because of his previous experience as a city councilman in Utah. His background as a trained chemical engineer would also be helpful, he said.
The Foothill board serves some 80,000 people in member agencies, including the Crescenta Valley Water District. Foothill serves as an affiliate of the Metropolitan Water District, and delivers purchased water to local agencies, providing sore 40 to 60 percent of the water supply.
