Overall male and female winners were Ann Braun at 21:57 and Mike Brook at 19:04. Other roadrunners well ahead of the coyote included David Beerer, Brent Pathson, Sakis Markarian, Ryan Assaf, Dana Dowse, Case Crogan, Apo Martinez and the President of the Crescenta Valley Town Council, Sharon Hales. Thanks to all that entered, to Trader Joe's and Vons Grocery for fuel, Bonners Equipment, the CHP, and all of our great sponsors. A percentage of the proceeds benefited the Desi Geestman Foundation, whose mission is to improve the quality of life for children suffering from cancer. This was made possible by our sponsors, participants and 5K Chairmen, Rick Dinger, Howard Hakes and Neil Ryan.
There are two great events coming up on Saturday, Oct. 28. In the morning, the CV Chamber and Glendale Clean & Beautiful committee will meet at 8:30 in the morning at Dunsmore Park for a continental breakfast. Joining us this year will be radio station KIIS FM. Then, (of course there is a then), from 9 a.m. to noon the public is invited to join chamber members as we all go out and clean up the weeds and trash along Foothill Boulevard from Lowell to Rosemont. Remember, we feed you good food first. This annual outing leaves you feeling good about your community as well as needing a shower when finished. Bring your gloves. All the equipment is furnished by Glendale, the trash dump arrives from Allied Waste (BFI) who has worked with us for several years on this, and of course, those fancy trash bags are donated by Chris Waldheim of J's Maintenance. You name it, Chris is there.
You should then reward yourself with a ticket to a Monte Carlo Night sponsored by CV CAN. Even if you don't gamble, or want to win great prizes, or have great fun, YOU WILL WANT TO ENJOY THE GREATEST variety of entrees provided by prominent restaurants. Oh yum. And just a reminder, we have a new track and field at CVHS, but it's still being paid off. The field may belong to the school, but the community uses it as their own. That's great, but CV CAN could use some help with those final payments.
