GLENDALE— Christine Cho solidified her spot as Pacific League Most Valuable Player in dramatic fashion.

The Crescenta Valley junior won the Pacific League Girls' Golf Individual title, making up eight strokes on second-place finisher Emily Tubert of Burroughs on the final day. Cho carded a 77 on Tuesday to finish with a two-round total of 155 and win by one stroke.

Teammates Amy Pramuantong (160) and Katie Park (164) both finished in the top five.

Cho, Pramuantong, Tubert and Jessica Lai of Arcadia advanced to the CIF Southern Section Individual Regionals at Las Posas Country Club in Camarillo on Nov. 6 after finishing in the first four spots.

"Their performance was great," said Falcons Coach Ken Johnson of his team. "They fought really hard and they came through."

After carding a 78 in her first round, Cho trailed Tubert by eight strokes and needed another solid round to have a chance at the overall title.

She improved on her first score by one stroke and saw Tubert finish with an 86. The combination of both was good enough for the win.

"All day I kept telling myself just focus on your own game," Cho said. "It wasn't a great day, but I hung in there.

"I wanted to shoot better, but I'm happy that I won."

Johnson said the win can be attributed to Cho's work ethic off the course.

"Christine practices very diligently; there is a purpose to her practices," he said. "She is very deliberate about that and it [shows] in her game."

In addition to the individual qualifiers, the Falcons had previously qualified as a team for the CIF Southern Section Team Regionals on Monday at Yucaipa Valley Golf Club after winning the Pacific League title.

"Hopefully we will do well," said Johnson of the team Regionals. "If we shoot in the 210-215 area, we could qualify for CIF [Finals]."
