Dr. Hubert Eaton, a young enterprising entrepreneur, moved to Los Angeles to take advantage of the city's growth. By the early 1920s, he had set his sights on changing the funeral business by transforming Forest Lawn Memorial-Park into a place for the living. By the 1930s, Dr. Eaton, had achieved the impossible, combining the mortuary and cemetery sides of the business with a place for services, such as weddings, baptisms, and family excursions.

In 1944, Forest Lawn - Hollywood Hills was established, and reflected Dr. Eaton's pride in America's ideals. The 1950s marked the opening of the Forest Lawn Museum and continued park expansion, By the 1970s, parks had opened in Cypress, Covina, and, with the purchase and renovation of the Sunnyside Memorial Gardens, Forest Lawn - Long Beach was established.

In the 80s and 90s, Forest Lawn expanded its community events, public programs, and educational efforts, and launched its Celebrate a Life® campaign. After 100 years, with its strong history and commitment to the families it serves, the Forest Lawn Memorial Parks remain a place for the living-a true community resource.
