Crescenta Valley High School is having a donation drive to help the families of the fallen Esperanza firefighters.
The Esperanza fire began in the early morning hours of Oct. 26 in the Esperanza and San Gorgonio Wash in Riverside County. Over 1500 personnel fought the fire that eventually burned 40,200 acres and cost five firefighters their lives. The fire was especially tough due to the Santa Ana wind condition. CVHS will raise funds for the firefighter's families. The drive, called "Operation Hope", Esperanza is Spanish for hope, is spearheaded by the Associated Student Body (ASB) but will involve the entire campus. Anyone who would like to contribute can mail or drop a check by the school. Checks should be made out to CVHS ASB with Esperanza indicated on the memo line.
Mail to CVHS, attention ASB, 2900 Community Avenue La Crescenta, CA 91214.
