Shop demonstrates Italian violins

The Metzler Violin Shop Inc. will host the ninth-annual traveling Cremona Exhibition and Sale, featuring more than 50 instruments made by Italian violin makers.

The violins will be played and compared for the public at 2 p.m. on Jan. 14 and at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 15.

Violinist David Stenske, cellist Ginger Murphy and violist Herman Markosian will perform. After the demonstration, those interested will have an opportunity to play the instruments. The event is free, but reservations are required.

The instruments will be on display from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, Jan. 9 through 28, at the shop, 604 S. Central Ave.

Chamber events upcoming in foothills

The Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce will host a networking breakfast beginning at 7 a.m. on Thursday at Verdugo Hills Hospital, 1812 Verdugo Blvd.

Speaker will be Pete Smith, general manager of Bob Smith Toyota. His presentation will be on "Sales and Marketing Techniques."

The chamber will also be installing its new officers and directors at an event beginning at 11:30 a.m. Jan. 16 at La Cañada Flintridge Country Club, 5500 Godbey Drive.
