GLENDALE — For the Crescenta Valley High girls' soccer team, its domination of the Pacific League continues.

On Wednesday afternoon at Crescenta Valley High, the latest victim was defending league champ Pasadena, which lost to the Falcons, 2-0.

Kim Carcich and Veronica Aguilar tallied goals, as Crescenta Valley (10-4-2, 8-0) won its sixth straight game, all of them by shutout.

"I think this is one of those big ones that we had to take," said Falcons Coach Cesar Hidalgo, whose team swept the season series against Pasadena with Wednesday's win.

A season ago, Crescenta Valley went 0-1-1 against Pasadena. The first loss was a controversial forfeit — due to Hidalgo receiving a red card and a new rule unknown to most in the league — and the subsequent tie didn't come without controversy either. At least two Crescenta Valley scores were called back due to controversial offsides calls.

For the first 60 minutes or so of the game, the teams played to a scoreless tie. Falcons senior Sammie Wright assisted Carcich to open up a 1-0 lead soon thereafter. Aguilar cushioned the lead when she converted a penalty kick.

The Falcons had a three-point league lead over both Burbank and Arcadia heading into Wednesday's match.

"We're aiming high," Hidalgo said. "We'll see how high we go."
