Tigers Make Tracks in Valley Sun

February 02, 2007

Tiger Cubs from a local pack visited the Valley Sun office in La Cañada on Saturday, Jan. 27 to learn about communications.

The cubs were from Den 3, Pack 302 and attend school at Monte Vista and Apperson. They arrived from La Crescenta in seven cars. They included Noah Kim, Kevin Faeustle, Alexander Hofhine, Robert Tyler, Jacob Lee and Julian Porcelli. Joining the boys were their siblings Maya Porcellli and Erik Faeustle.

Before entering the newspaper's office, the youngsters played tag for a little bit in the parking lot. Indoors, they learned how to collect facts and write a story.

Their visit to the Valley Sun earned them a Go-See-It badge.

When asked why communications are important, Jacob, 7, said, "If a fire is happening and we need help...we [must] shout for help, or use a whistle."

Kevin, 6, said you get news information by "asking people nicely."

After helping Valley Sun Editor Carol Cormaci write this story, the group headed off to La Cañada's Memorial Park to finish their meeting.

Julian, 7, said he would read the paper in the future "to find out what is happening."
